In 1978, Marco Boglione established Kappa, an Italian sportswear label, in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, as a spin-off of the “Robe di Kappa” brand. The Aquila brand, a sock and underwear company from Turin, encountered a production issue in 1916, prompting the use of a K stamp on all newly produced items, which symbolized German Kontrolle. This decision resulted in a significant increase in sales. Eventually, in 1967, the K line was officially renamed Kappa, after the Greek letter K.
